Listen: Phoenix drop new single 'Alpha Zulu'.
Phoenix drop their first new music in two years, with the song, 'Alpha Zulu' - the title comes from the phrase Phoenix frontman, Thomas Mars, heard a pilot repeating over the radio during a turbulent flight in a storm.
Mars today told Apple Music that the band have almost finished their new album: "Well… very close. Well, finishing now. No, we're really close. So it's exciting because we know that 'Alpha Zulu' is not the only song, that there will be more soon. And the album's coming out soon. So yeah, there is a lot more. We are almost done. It does feel like it's been five years, definitely. We record in Paris all the time. That's our place. This time, I mean, we produced it ourselves. We worked with a mixer we loved, Manny Marroquin. Yeah, no, we recorded this album in the most insane place, but for legal reason, I'm still not sure. I have to wait something like 72 hours to know if I'm allowed to say it."
