Mermaidens and Lontalius announced as Death Cab For Cutie support acts.

Ahead of Death Cab For Cutie's return to New Zealand next week, their support acts have been announced.

Mermaidens will open the Wellington show on February 20th at the Opera House, and Lontalius for the Auckland show on February 23rd at the St. James Theatre.

I couldn't be more excited about this - I just wish I were going to Wellington as well though, so I could see them both.

To get you prepared for whichever show you're heading to next week, we've done our duty and chosen our favourite Mermaidens and Lontalius song in case you're unfamiliar with them:

Mermaidens - 'Seed'.

Lontalius - 'It's Not Love'.

And here's the official show info:

Washington alt-rockers Death Cab for Cutie return to New Zealand this week to play Wellington's Opera House on Saturday 20 February and Auckland's St James on Tuesday 23 February.

Exciting Wellington act Mermaidens will be the opening act for the Wellington date and Lontalius will play support for the Auckland show.

Death Cab For Cutie's eighth studio album KINTSUGI was released in March 2015, reaching #1 on Billboard's top rock albums chart and garnering a Grammy nomination. The band has been touring to support the release ever since, with headline dates across the US and Europe and festival appearances including Glastonbury and Splendour in the Grass.

After extensive touring across the globe to support the release of KINTSUGI, New Zealand fans can be assured of seeing one of alternative music's great bands at their heady best.
