Review: M·A·C x Giambattista Valli lipsticks.
"Fashion designer Giambattista Valli brings his effortless elegance and luxurious celebration of the female form to a stunning collection of timeless lipsticks."
For those unaware of the work of Italian fashion designer Giambattista Valli, here's a quick guide (because this is so important in appreciating the beauty of these lipsticks):
Last year, the designer told Vogue: "I'm very well known for dresses, no? And I thought it was very nice, the idea of dressing your lips… I made these for a woman with personality, a woman who lives her life and isn't afraid to wear colour and isn't afraid to kiss."
Giambattista Valli is a powerhouse when it comes to couture, and you'll probably recognise some of his work - maybe without even knowing it was his!
With his striking portfolio of dresses, it's no surprise that the Giambattista Valli x M∙A∙C collection is just as beautiful - even the fully-coloured packaging is to die for. As the collection description states, these lipsticks are an ode to the female form, which means #girlpower, duh! Coup De Main were lucky enough to have a little play with some of these gorgeous shades ahead of their September 7th release (NZ time). Check out our thoughts below…
'TATS' LIPSTICK - RRP $44.00 (NZD)
If you're looking for a lipstick that screams 'high fashion', this hot pink matte will do the trick. While hot pink lipsticks are nothing new, 'Tats' really is something special. The shade is labelled as a matte, but there's a slight shine to it, making it very wearable for any occasion. It glides on like a dream and has some pretty impressive staying power. That being said, I find a lot of hot pink shades stain my lips, but this particular colour was just as easy to take off as it was to put on - not that I really wanted to take it off in the first place!
'MARGHERITA' LIPSTICK - RRP $44.00 (NZD)
In my books, the word 'margherita' is associated with pizza, which made me love this lipstick without even trying it. M.A.C. describe this beauty as 'yellow bright peach' with a matte finish, but fear not - you're not going to have Marge Simpson lips (although that was indeed a thing that M∙A∙C did last year). 'Margherita' is a peachy orange that's pretty much the ideal Summer colour. It may be winter here, but this colour has my face feeling all sweet and sunshiney. The finish on this is pretty similar to 'Tats', but I found the application a little bit more difficult. My best advice is to apply this shade with a lip brush, and you're good to go!
The entire Giambattista Valli x M∙A∙C lip collection is available at selected M∙A∙C locations from September 7th (NZT).
