The 1975 get real on new song 'Love It If We Made It'. Very, very real.

Update: 'Love It If We Made It' will premiere on Beats 1 tomorrow at 5pm BST - which is 4am NZT on Friday, July 20th.

The 1975 are set to release 'Love It If We Made It' this week on July 19th, their second single from 'A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships', and the band have shared a lyric sheet with fans that calls out fake news ("Truth is only hear say!") and the continued exploitation of people of colour and the commercialisation of black culture ("Selling melanin and then suffocate the black men / Start with misdemeanours and we'll make a business out of them"), acknowledges the plight of refugees seeking asylum ("A beach of drowning 3 year olds") and the accidental overdose of Soundcloud rapper Lil Peep ("Rest in peace Lil Peep"), and references the band's reoccurring motif 'la poésie est dans la rue' ("The poetry is in the streets").

The lyrics "the poetry is in the streets" also connects the upcoming song to the popular fan-theory that the band's new album is thematically connected to the May 1968 Paris protests.

'Love It If We Made It' also makes several references to current U.S. President Donald Trump, quoting "I moved on her like a bitch!" from his 2005 interview with Billy Bush on Access Hollywood, and "Thank you Kanye, very cool!" from an April 2018 tweet.

One doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to connect the dots between other lyrics also in the same verse - which include "excited to be indicted" and "war has been incited and guess what you're all invited."

The opening lines of 'Love It If We Made It' are also referenced in a typewriter-written letter from the band's Matty Healy that was recently mailed to fans in surprise care-packages from the band:

Read the lyrics for 'Love It If We Made It' in full below:

Fucking in a car, shooting heroin
Saying controversial things just for the hell of it
Selling melanin and then suffocate the black men
Start with misdemeanours and we'll make a business out of them
And we can find out the information
Access all the applications that are hardening positions based on miscommunication
Oh! Fuck your feelings!
Truth is only hear say!
We're just left to decay!
Modernity has failed us
But I'd love it if we made it
Yes, I'd love it if we made it
Poison me daddy
I got the Jones right through my bones
Write it on a piece of stone
A beach of drowning 3 year olds
Rest in peace Lil Peep
The poetry is in the streets
Jesus save us!
Modernity has failed us
And I'd love it if we made it
Tell me something I didn't know
Consultation degradation
Fossil fuelling masturbation
Immigration liberal kitsch kneeling on a pitch
"I moved on her like a bitch!"
Excited to be indicted
Unrequited house with seven pools
Thank you Kanye, very cool!
War has been incited and guess what you're all invited
And you're famous
Modernity has failed us
And I'd love it if we made it
