We are well and truly obsessed with Sofia Coppola's latest film, 'Priscilla' - which tells the whirlwind fairytale story of Priscilla Presley and Elvis Presley's relationship.
"When teenager Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who's already a meteoric rock 'n' roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, and a gentle best friend."
'Priscilla' is in New Zealand cinemas today!
#1. The cast is incredible with Cailee Spaeny even winning Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival (and Jacob Elordi's Elvis sparking the debate that he might be giving Austin Butler's Elvis a run for his money!)
#2. The film is directed by none other than Sofia Coppola who has directed films, 'The Virgin Suicides', 'Marie Antoinette', and 'The Beguiled'. Who better to take the helm of a story of a young girl in a world she never expected than Sofia?
#3. The film is executive produced by Priscilla Presley herself and is based on the novel, 'Elvis and Me', written by Presley and Sandra Harmon.
#4. A must-watch is this video from Vanity Fair with Spaeny, Elordi, and Coppola taking you through a titular scene of 'Priscilla'.
#5. Fun fact: Coppola nearly auctioned off a pickleball game with Elordi to fund the movie...
“He can play pickleball. Our budget was always strained, low budget, and I was like, ‘I wonder if I could raffle off a pickleball game with Jacob to raise money to get one more day of shooting.’ We didn’t, but he was a good sport. He indulged me, even though he’s not an enthusiast. I think he associates it with, like, Malibu moms.”
