A Death Cab for Cutie x 'Asphalt Meadows' appreciation post.

Death Cab for Cutie today have released their 10th studio album titled 'Asphalt Meadows' - which is the follow-up to their 2018 release, 'Thank You For Today'. The album features previously released singles, ‘Foxglove Through The Clearcut’, ‘Roman Candles’ and ‘Here To Forever’.

So today on the day of release, we are celebrating...

#1. Watch the music video for the song 'Here to Forever'. This song was the final track that they wrote for the record and marked the second taste fans got of 'Asphalt Meadows'...

#2. You can also watch the band perform the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert below...

#3. The album features 'Foxglove Through The Clearcut' which is the most personal song on the record. Ben Gibbard shares on the song: "While I was writing it, I thought I was merely the narrator. But the longer I sat with it I realized I was both the protagonist AND the narrator."

#4. The band recently did a 'Death Cab for Cutie: Live From Home' session in which they performed stripped-down versions of the new songs, plus some old favourites. The stream was also a fundraiser and benefited reproductive rights nonprofit, The Brigid Alliance.

"I started Live From Home during the pandemic when I wanted nothing more than to play music with my bandmates. As we're now back together, it feels only fitting to have everyone in that little room with me to bring it full circle."

#5. To learn everything you need to know about the new record, you can check out their interview they did with NME here
