Introducing: 'The Shallows'.

We’d like to introduce you to an upcoming film that we’re incredibly excited about - it’s called ‘The Shallows’, and it’s the tale of Blake Lively vs. a great white shark, and it's due to hit NZ cinemas on August 18th. If you’ve never been hugely into shark survival tales, then this might be the film to change your mind, as it looks both enthralling and intense, with a performance from Lively that is said to be incredible.

To tell you a little bit more about the film, here’s the official synopsis:

“Still reeling from the loss of her mother, medical student Nancy Adams (Blake Lively) travels to a secluded beach for some much-needed solace. Despite the danger of surfing alone, Nancy decides to soak up the sun and hit the waves. Suddenly, a great white shark attacks, forcing her to swim to a giant rock for safety. Left injured and stranded 200 yards from shore, the frightened young woman must fight for her life as the deadly predator circles her in its feeding ground.”

The film stars Blake Lively (she’s come a long way since Serena from ‘Gossip Girl’) as essentially one of the only cast members for the entire film, and she’s been praised immensely for her work in ‘The Shallows’. She did her own stunts in the film, and a stunt-double was only hired in the last two weeks of filming - and only to do the surfing elements of it, which is pretty impressive.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who you’ll recognise for his work on the iconic horror ‘Orphan’, the film looks to take you along on this exhilarating ride of Blake Lively’s character fighting for her life.

‘The Shallows’ was filmed in Australia’s New South Wales, and the stunning scenery looks to add a whole other level to the film. Make sure you stay tuned to CDM for more news about ‘The Shallows’ - it's out in NZ cinemas on August 18th.
