Introducing: Ahlei + her new single 'Hiding Place'.

'Hiding Place' is an important moment for 17-year-old Auckland-based artist Ahlei - it's her first full-length song release, the musical equivalent to a warm embrace, and makes the artist absolutely one to keep an eye on.

Ahlei only just started releasing short snippets of songs this year, but already her previous releases - 'Birds', 'Only For You', and 'Constellations' (as well as acoustic renditions of each) - have garnered her close to 50,000 streams on Spotify.

About 'Hiding Place', she shares: "Everybody needs their own hiding place, whether that's a person, a place, or even within themselves. This song captures the longing for a person's acceptance, wishing that they will let you into their safe place inside, their own hiding place."

Taking inspiration from Frank Ocean, Sabrina Claudio, and Alina Baraz, Ahlei's vocals fit into that world (with a hint of 'everything i wanted'-esque Billie Eilish), yet are unmistakably hers.
