Introducing: Molly Payton and her new single '1972'.
New Zealand artist Molly Payton has shared her latest single, '1972', the lead single from her upcoming 'Mess' EP set for release next month.
The piano-driven song sees Payton's haunting vocals contemplate a past relationship, building to a chorus in which she reflects, "You're in love with my image babe, don't pretend it's anything else."
About the song, Molly says: "1972 is partly about realising a relationship isn’t as good as you thought it was, and alongside that the frustration that shows up when you can’t move on from someone who’s moved on from you."
Having moved to London two years ago, the budding singer-songwriter collaborated with Dirty Hit signee Oscar Lang on the new song as a co-producer, and is also beloved by Beabadoobee (who told us in 2019 that she is "sososo lovely and makes the best tunes").
