Troye Sivan tour - Masthead Banner

A Dua Lipa album appreciation post.

A Dua Lipa album appreciation post.

In celebration of the fact that Dua Lipa has released her debut album - it’s out today! - we’ve compiled a few things that we appreciate about Miss Lipa.

Here’s some official album info:

“The album was recorded between London, Los Angeles, Toronto and New York and is co-written by Dua with collaborators such as Stephen 'KOZ’ Kozmeniuk (Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj), Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs), Nineteen85 (Drake) and Jon Levine (Nelly Furtado).

So far, 2017 has seen the young Londoner claim three spots in the UK top 15 singles chart simultaneously with hit single ‘Be The One’ and features alongside Sean Paul and Martin Garrix.

After a whirlwind year of sell-out international tour dates, huge single releases and massive chart presence, last week Dua made her triumphant live return to London with a sold out show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on April 13th.  From knock-out performances at festivals including Glastonbury, T In The Park, Secret Garden, a sold-out hometown show at Koko, extensive touring across Europe and America, Dua’s live highlight to date was her massive sold out show to over 20,000 fans in Pristina, Kosovo, her family’s homeland. To date, Dua has sold over 3.4 million singles worldwide.”

And here are five things we appreciate about her…

#1. She recently performed live at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend - headlining the main stage! Watch 'Lost In Your Light' from her set below…

#2. As well as releasing her own music, Dua has released a number of excellent covers - including Jamie xx’s ‘Good Times’, and more recently, Etta James’ ‘I Would Rather Go Blind’. Listen to both covers below:

#3. Dua is coming to New Zealand! She’s been announced as the opening-act on Bruno Mars' tour - which will see her play four shows at Auckland’s Spark Arena next February and March. Check out the postcard Dua wrote for us when we interviewed her last year:

#4. She’s been announced as part of MAC Cosmetics’ Future Forward campaign, releasing a Cremesheen Glass lip finish. Click here to shop the lip-product.

#5. Her music video for ‘Blow Your Mind (Mwah)’ showcases female empowerment of the best kind - with Dua and her pals carrying signs, including one that says, “You can sit with us.” Bless.
