"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" earnestly asks Claud on their new single, 'A Good Thing' - from their sophomore album, 'Supermodels'. Paired with the track, Claud also recently released a music video for the track starring none other than Paul Rudd. On how this came about, they shared: "I immediately started blurting out that there was a song on my album named after him and how much I love him. Paul then gave me his email and asked me to send him my album. He responded within a couple days saying how much he liked it so I asked him to be in the music video we were shooting the following week, and he said yes."

We spoke with Claud about moving on, having your guard up, and meet & greeting with Paul Rudd...

COUP DE MAIN: I love the lyric in 'Crumbs' where you sing: "The little crumbs I hate cleaning up / But I will for you, I will for you whatever you want." What were you thinking about when you wrote this lyric?
CLAUD: Thank you! I was thinking about how I tend to ignore the things that usually bother me when I really love someone, even with the littlest of things. This is obviously not sustainable. Haha.

CDM: You had Paul Rudd in the video for 'A Good Thing' who also has a track on the album named after him - how did that come about?
CLAUD: I went to the Eras Tour because I obviously wanted to see Taylor Swift, but also Phoebe Bridgers was opening and I'm on her record label. After Phoebe's set, I went to say hi to her and there he was... standing just a foot away from Phoebe. Phoebe grabbed my arm and was like, "It's happening. It's time for you to meet Paul Rudd." Then she introduced us (she doesn't know him at all) and I immediately started blurting out that there was a song on my album named after him and how much I love him. Paul then gave me his email and asked me to send him my album. He responded within a couple days saying how much he liked it, so I asked him to be in the music video we were shooting the following week, and he said yes.

CDM: Do you have any tips for moving on from someone?
CLAUD: Stop checking their Instagram story.

CDM: The lyric in 'It's Not About You' where you say, "And I haven't been able to write / And I blame it on the heartbreak," is interesting because people often find heartbreak as a catalyst for songwriting. Why do you think that is different for you?
CLAUD: Yeah... usually heartbreak is a catalyst for me but, you see, I was actually TOO sad to write for a couple months. Honestly that's how it goes most of the time. I can't really write about it until I've healed from it.

CDM: Do you have a personal favourite track from the record?
CLAUD: Hm. Maybe 'Spare Tire' or 'Screwdriver'.

CDM: In 'Dirt' you sing, "It's been a couple months / What am I doing with my hands? / Never thought I'd see a stranger in you." Do you think it's harder to reunite with someone who used to be important in your life and have them act a stranger or have them act like nothing has happened?
CLAUD: I don't know... both suck equally. It's the worst feeling in the world to make small talk with someone you once knew so well. It also feels awful being unable to get deep with someone and talk things through. If you're going through that, I've been there and I'm sorry.

CDM: What was running through your mind when you wrote 'Every Fucking Time'?
CLAUD: I think I had my guard up when I was writing this one. I was feeling really protective of myself and my own feelings because I had been really heartbroken before and didn't want to go through it again. I've since learned that heartbreak is unavoidable sometimes, and it's best to let yourself feel it.

CDM: Are you still thinking about moving out of New York?
CLAUD: I moved away for a few months but I am now moving back. Lol.
