Introducing: Dirty Hit's The Candescents + their new single 'Boyfriend'.

As promised by The 1975's Matty Healy recently, new Dirty Hit signing The Candescents have released their sonically pleasing earworm of a new single 'Boyfriend' as the first track from the band's forthcoming debut EP, which is set for release this NZ Winter (/UK/US Summer).

Via e-mail, The Candescents' vocalist/guitarist Alex Harris relatably says that 'Boyfriend' is about "really liking someone but being scared to have my happiness dependent on someone else" and a "general fear of co-dependency" - culminating in a dramatic ending to the song, which Harris explains as "a climactic moment of someone/something telling me to choose, and me (sadly) choosing fear."

The Ohio-based band recently supported labelmates Pale Waves on their 2017 North American tour, and are just about to go on tour with We Are Scientists for the rest of this month.
